The first time I used the X\u00adPro, I knew I loved it. I loved the look\u00a0and the style \u2013 back then I wanted a camera that looked good. I\u00a0was fed up of not having a cool camera to use. I didn’t want to be\u00a0that photographer who used their iPhone when out and about and I\u00a0still don’t for that matter. I remember wanting a camera to take on\u00a0a few trips I had planned to North Africa, Washington & New York.\u00a0It was very important for me at the time to be able to document the\u00a0trip. The X100 was out at the time but, I really liked the idea of\u00a0being able to take the 3 lenses that came with the X\u00adPro at the\u00a0time. There was the 18mm the 60mm and the lens I still use every\u00a0day, to this very day \u2013 the 35mm f1.4. As pretty much all\u00a0photographers did back then, I over packed. I took a D800 set up &\u00a0a spare body, then a whole extra bag of lenses had been arranged\u00a0and shipped across ahead of me. Personally I thought I would\u00a0never use the Fuji aside from on the plane or out and about \u2013\u00a0snaps here or there. It turned out it that to this very day \u2013 I use my\u00a0cameras every day \u2013 for work and pleasure. The thing is \u2013 it was\u00a0not the image quality that did anything \u2013 it was the form of the\u00a0body. The camera style changed the way I shot. It let me relax and\u00a0have fun.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The next few years passed. I was shooting with the Fuji X\u00adPro1,\u00a0then mixing it up with the X\u00adT1 from time to time. The X\u00adT1 is a\u00a0stunning camera \u00ad but, it’s not an X\u00adPro camera. I remember when\u00a0the X\u00adT1 came out, I remember when I first held it & I remember\u00a0thinking… ‘I really like this camera, but I love my X\u00adPro1’. I used my\u00a0d800 along with my Fuji cameras side by side up until I met up with\u00a0Richard Wan outside a train station, he handed me a black box\u00a0with an X\u00adPro2 inside. Since then I have only used the X\u00adPro2. My\u00a0Nikon camera has not taken a single frame since October.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\nAt the heart of the X\u00adPro2, there is the same idea as with the X-Pro1 and all X\u00adSeries for that matter, it seems to me that Fujifilm\u00a0have wanted to empower the photographer \u2013 not create a barrier\u00a0into the process of image making. The X\u00adPro2 is a continuation of\u00a0this process giving even more range & scope for a working\u00a0professional to have a small lightweight system that can deliver for\u00a0all needs. In so many ways this new camera is a step forward \u2013 but\u00a0I love the links and ties with the heritage of the past too. In Fujifilm,\u00a0many people like me have found a company that is not a faceless\u00a0brand. Maybe it is the UK team that is part of that, but, when you\u00a0speak to photographers all over the world there is something more\u00a0\u2013 shooting Fuji can make you feel good \u2013 I have no idea what that\u00a0extra magic is, I really don’t \u2013 but maybe that is why it’s magic.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
