The color of Memory

By Amanda Ong

As a creative, my world is made up of images. They live on in brand campaigns, in fleeting moments I catch on the street, and in the quiet everyday scenes I share online. Over the years, Fujifilm has been my constant companion. From the X100V to the X100VI, and the X-T4, each camera has shaped the way I see, notice, and remember.

Lately, the X-E5 has been the one I reach for most. It doesn’t just fit into my routine, it fits the way I move, the way I look at things.

Color, in My Own Language

I work with different brands and clients, creating social content that reflects their tone and visual identity but through it all, I’ve tried to hold onto my own voice. Fujifilm makes that possible.

Fujifilm’s color science has always stood out to me, but it’s the custom FS RECIPEs that really make it personal. With the X-E5’s new Film Simulation dial, I can shift moods with a single click, from something warm and quiet, to something brighter and more playful.

Whether I’m shooting a minimalist product shot or documenting a weekend in the city, the colors come out just right. No heavy edits. Just tones I trust.

One Camera, All Worlds

I used to switch between multiple cameras for different purposes. The X100VI for my personal moments, the others for client shoots. But the X-E5 has replaced both. It is compact and light, yet powerful. It gives me the flexibility of changing lenses, without the weight that usually comes with such systems.

It follows me from café meetings to late-night edits, from quiet weekends to airport gates. It feels personal, yet professional. Easy to carry, but never lacking in depth.

A Signature Feel

Every creator has a look they gravitate toward. Mine is soft, warm, and a little nostalgic. I like to say it looks like how a memory feels.

This series was photographed in Penang, a place I first visited because of my best friend. It’s where he grew up, and over time, it became a place I grew to love too. Familiar cafés, slow afternoons, the quiet rhythm of the streets, they’ve started to feel like part of my own story.

Slow walks through Penang, chasing the kind of light you only notice when you’re really there.

I’m grateful to have photography, and Fujifilm, to hold these moments for me. The in-between things, the gentle ones I don’t want to forget.

Sunlight through this corridor tells me I’m back at the hotel. A space that feels like pause.

There’s comfort in finding your spot. My favorite cafe has quietly become mine.

Every image here was shot on the X-E5, using a FS RECIPE I’ve fine-tuned over time. It’s the same one I use across my platforms, from TikTok to Instagram and across the brands I work with. That consistency has become part of my identity. And it’s Fujifilm that makes it seamlessly possible.

My FS RECIPE

For Anyone Telling a Story

The X-E5 is made for creators who care about intention, about feeling. Whether you’re building something for a brand or just documenting a moment that matters to you, this camera makes it easy to stay close to your vision.

For me, photography isn’t just about getting the shot. It’s about remembering how it felt, and holding on to the colors that stayed.
