Features Common to All X Series Cameras

The MENU OK button is used to access deeper levels of camera functionality beyond what is offered by function buttons, dials, and switches.

  • Named menu tabs are what you use to change capture settings. Press left on the Focus Lever to scroll by tab (so you don’t have to scroll through every function to get to the next page), and press right on the stick to access the desired feature, then MENU OK to select.
  • The wrench icon indicates SET UP and features settings including Power Management, Button/Dial Setting, and Screen Set-Up. Choose DISP. CUSTOM SETTING from the SCREEN SET-UP menu to select what information shows on the EVF/LCD.

The DRIVE SETTING button gives you access to burst mode, bracketing, single frame, Advanced Filters, and more. On X-T200, Drive functions can also be set by pressing down on the Focus Lever.

The photometry/metering setting determines how the camera meters exposure. On X-T200, select it from SHOOTING MENU 2.

The white balance button allows you to select WB options that match your light source. You can also customize to create your own shade of white or select a specific kelvin value, which is a measure of the color temperature of light. The default setting for quick WB access is to press right on the Focus Lever.

Use the View Mode button to change view from LCD to viewfinder only or EYE SENSOR + LCD IMAGE DISPLAY (for using both), which senses your eye at the viewfinder and instantly switches from LCD to EVF.

The DISP BACK button allows you to select how you’d like information displayed on the LCD and/or EVF. You can customize the information being displayed in SET UP > SCREEN SET-UP > DISP. CUSTOM SETTING.

Personalizing Your Camera

Many aspects of X-T200 can be customized to suit your preferences, such as its controls, displays, and exposure modes.

Fn Function Button and Touch Controls

The two Fn buttons on the camera’s rear, the Fn dial, and the two touchscreen Touch Controls can be customized to perform different tasks.

  • Press MENU OK and scroll down to the SET UP menu tab.
  • Choose BUTTON/DIAL SETTING > FUNCTION (Fn) SETTING and press MENU OK.
  • Choose each of the function controls in turn, pressing MENU OK to customize its role.
  • When you’re done, press DISP BACK three times to return to picture taking mode.

Customizing Viewfinder and Touchscreen Information

You can choose what information X-T200 shows on its rear screen and in its viewfinder when you’re making photos and video.

  • Press MENU OK and scroll down to the SET UP menu tab.
  • Choose SCREEN SET-UP > DISP. CUSTOM SETTING and press MENU OK.
  • Press MENU OK to tick the information you want to show. Untick anything you want hidden.
  • When you’re done, press DISP BACK three times to return to picture taking mode.

Customizing the Q Menu

The Q Menu gives you information at a glance and quick access to camera settings. You can also change what’s on the Q Menu screen to suit your way of working.

  • Press MENU OK and scroll down to the SET UP menu tab.
  • Choose BUTTON/DIAL SETTING > EDIT/SAVE QUICK MENU and press MENU OK.
  • Use the Focus Lever to navigate to the menu item you want to customize and press MENU OK.
  • Find the function you’d like to appear in this menu location and press MENU OK.
  • Repeat the above steps for each menu location you want to change. Press DISP BACK to finish.

Customizing Film Simulation Modes

You’ve probably discovered your camera’s Film Simulation modes by now, but did you know you can customize these to suit your own tastes?

  • Tap the Q icon on the touchscreen to display the Q Menu.
  • Adjust highlights, shadows, and color saturation with the H Tone, S Tone, and Color options using the front command dial.

Focusing Modes

Choosing an AF Mode

When looking for subjects to focus on, your X-T200 can use small AF points, larger AF zones, or the whole AF area at once. To change this AF mode:

  • Press MENU OK and scroll to the AF/MF SETTING menu tab.
  • Choose AF MODE and select from: SINGLE POINT, ZONE, or WIDE TRACKING.
  • Or select the ALL option to be able to cycle through these modes seamlessly as you vary the focus point/zone’s size (see below).

You can also access the AF mode selection from the camera’s Quick Menu.

Focus Point Location and Size

The size of the active focusing point or zone used by your X-T200 can be changed in size and moved around the frame. In the camera’s Q Menu, choose from Single Point (highly selective), Zone (for erratically moving subjects), and Wide/Tracking (uses the whole frame). (This is only available in P, A, S, and M exposure modes.)

To move the active focus point or zone:

  • Move the focus lever up, down, left, or right.
  • Or tap the touchscreen where you’d like the active AF point/zone to be.

To change the size of the active focus point or zone:

  • Press the MENU OK button and navigate to the AF/MF SETTING menu tab.
  • Choose FOCUS AREA.
  • You’ll see a grid of focus points, which you can move around with the Focus Lever as normal.
  • You can also use the rear control dial to change the size of the focus point or zone (there are six points and three zones to choose from).
  • With the AF mode set to ALL (see above) you’ll be able to use the rear command dial to move from the smallest single AF point, through the three zone sizes, to the WIDE/AREA setting in one go.

Making the Most of Manual Focus

When you’re focusing manually, the X-T200 offers all kinds of aids to help you achieve critical sharpness.

  • Put the camera in M focus mode by tapping the focus mode icon on the camera’s touchscreen (it will say AF-S or AF-C).
  • To select Focus Peaking, where the area in focus is highlighted in a color of your choice, press MENU OK, navigate to the second page of the AF/MF SETTING menu, and choose MF ASSIST. Then pick FOCUS PEAK HIGHLIGHT and select a color (only available in P, A, S, and M exposure modes).
  • To switch on Focus Check (where a central portion of the scene is magnified when you begin to focus manually), press MENU OK, and scroll to the second page of the AF/MF SETTING menu. Choose FOCUS CHECK > ON.

Switch on AF+MF from the SHOOTING MENU > AF/MF SETTING and you’ll be able to focus manually just by turning the lens’s focus ring – no change of focus mode necessary.

Super Selfies

You can make great selfies with your X-T200, and the camera’s Portrait Enhancer and Face Detection AF features will ensure you always look your best.

  • Pull out the camera’s touchscreen to the side so it faces the same direction as the lens; you’ll notice that the image is flipped to help you compose more intuitively.
  • If the camera is in SR+ AUTO exposure mode, you’ll notice the PORTRAIT ENHANCER button in the top-right corner of the touchscreen menu display. Tap this and move the slider to adjust how much Portrait Enhancer effect is applied.
  • When you’re making selfies in SR+ AUTO mode, Face Detection autofocus will operate automatically. In other exposure modes, you can activate this from the AF/MF SETTING menu tab by going to the FACE/EYE DETECTION option.

    Creating Video

    Picking the Right Settings

The first thing to decide is which resolution and frame rate settings to use. You’ll find these options in the camera’s MOVIE SETTING menu tab. Choose the MOVIE MODE option to change frame rate and resolution.

    • 4K/29.97p gives the best resolution and clarity on X-T200.
    • Full HD (FHD) options still provide a good level of resolution, but at higher frame rates, which can help capture movement more fluidly.
    • HD options offer lower resolution, but files are smaller so you can fit more footage on your memory card.
    • When it comes to frame rate, 24p is fine for most normal applications. Footage shot at frame rates of 50p or 59.94p captures motion more smoothly.

    Using the HDR Movie Mode

The X-T200 features an HDR Movie Mode, which captures greater levels of detail in highlights and shadow areas.

    • Press the MENU OK button and navigate to the MOVIE SETTING menu.
    • Choose HDR MOVIE MODE and select your frame rate, based on our recommendations above.

Digital Gimbal and Digital Image Stabilizer

These two features on the X-T200 help you to create smooth handheld video footage. While both essentially perform the same purpose, the Digital Gimbal crops footage and is more powerful than the Digital Image Stabilizer.

    • Press the MENU OK button and navigate to the MOVIE SETTING menu.
    • Choose DIGITAL GIMBAL or DIGITAL IMAGE STABILIZER, then press MENU OK.
    • Select ON/OFF as required.

The Digital Gimbal cannot be used with 4K video capture. Neither the Digital Gimbal nor the Digital Image Stabilizer are available in the HDR Movie Mode.

    Connecting to Your Smart Device

Your X-T200 can communicate wirelessly with your smartphone or tablet computer via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, so you can transfer pictures to your device where they can be edited and shared with friends and followers online. You can also use your smart device to take pictures remotely, control the camera, and even look at what the camera sees with remote live view.

Linking the Camera and Device Using Bluetooth

    • Install the free FUJIFILM Camera Remote app on your iOS or Android device.
    • Turn on the camera, press MENU OK, and navigate to the SET UP menu. Choose CONNECTION SETTING > Bluetooth SETTINGS > PAIRING REGISTRATION. The camera will begin searching for your device.
    • In the FUJIFILM Camera Remote app, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pairing process. You may need to tap the Camera List menu in the top left of the screen if you already have another camera paired.

    Transferring Images to Your Device

    • Press the PLAY button to playback images on your camera’s screen.
    • Now press MENU OK and scroll down to IMAGE TRANSFER ORDER.
    • Choose SELECT FRAMES and page through the images. Press OK to tag those that you’d like to transfer to your paired device.
    • The images will begin to transfer when you exit by pressing DISP. BACK or turn off the camera.

    Remote Control

    • Launch the Camera Remote app from your smart device and tap the camera name to connect.
    • Tap the Live view shooting option to begin remote controlling the X-T200.

If your device is already connected to a Wi-Fi network, the app may ask to switch to the camera’s own Wi-Fi before remote capture can begin.
