Gina Hackett
From Janesville, Wisconsin
A writer and director originally from the Midwest, but now based in Los Angeles, Gina Hackett earned her bachelor’s degree from Harvard, and completed her MFA in screenwriting and directing at Columbia. She received the Alex Sichel Memorial Fellowship and Lisa Rubin Teleplay Award, and has since served as a screenwriting instructor and guest speaker.
Her writing has been acknowledged by the San Francisco International Film Festival, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and Screencraft. Her short film, Beauty Marks, premiered virtually on Short of the Week, following a festival run that included Palm Springs ShortFest, Champs-Elysées Film Festival (Special Mention, Best US Short), and Dallas Film Festival (Best Short Film).
Gina’s stories explore the nuance of misunderstood and often morally ambiguous women. For Fujikina NYC, she created a short film, Appraisal, which follows an ambitious career-driven woman on the verge of settling down with her breadwinning partner until she witnesses an altercation next door that threatens to jeopardize their picture-perfect future.
