Micheli Oliver
From Niwot and Berthoud, Colorado
A successful commercial, editorial, and documentary photographer, Micheli Oliver is an activist, environmentalist, humanist, geographer, and outdoor athlete. Her work has been published in magazines including Powder, Freeskier, and Women’s Running, while creating campaigns for prestige clients like Patagonia, Hydro Flask, and Solomon. Her photography combines both intimate portraits and wide natural landscapes, showcasing her belief in the power of people and place.
Currently based on the lands of Pawtucket, Massa-adchu-es-et, and Naumkeag peoples – also known as Boston, MA – Micheli’s projects place an emphasis on stories differing from the norm, from women in male-dominated spaces to diversity in traditionally white spaces. Her work has focused on indigenous people skiing, black folx biking, Colombian-Americans running, and other expressions of movement and diversity.
Micheli’s Fujikina NYC project, “We Are Woven” explores the childlike joy and wonder that all ages can experience when we slow down to look closely and notice the living world into which we are all so intricately woven.
