Lenses of firmware update steps<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The steps below is explained with the current version 1.00 and the new version 1.10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Prepare the necessities for the firmware update.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  1. A camera and a lens to be updated<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. A fully charged battery<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. A formatted memory card<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. The firmware (to be downloaded from this site.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    2. Firmware version checking procedure.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    1. Turn off the camera and put the card in it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Turn the camera on while pressing \u201cDISP\/BACK\u201d button to check the current firmware version. (It is ver.1.00 in the picture below.)

    3. Turn off the camera<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      If the version is the latest, the firmware update is not required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      3. Prepare the formatted memory card.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      A formatted memory card is required for the firmware update. If the card is formatted, all the files including protected files in the card will be erased. If you need the files, copy them to a PC etc. before formatting the card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Turn on the camera.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Press \u201cMENU\/OK\u201d button and select \u201cFORMAT\u201d in the SET-UP menu.

      3. Press the selector button(up) to select \u201cOK\u201d and press the \u201cMENU\/OK\u201d button. Then, the format will start.
        Turn the camera off after the format is completed.

        4. Download the firmware and copy it to the card.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        Note: Different lenses have different firmware extensions that are downloaded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \uff1cIf the downloaded firmware is GFUP00##.DAT\/XFUP00##.DAT\uff1e<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Put the formatted memory card to a card reader slot of your PC.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Download the firmware for the camera.\n
            \n
          1. Firmware filenames differ by series. The GF lens is \u201cGFUP00 ##. DAT\u201d, and the XF lens is \u201cXFUP00 ##. DAT\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          2. \u201c##(figures)\u201d in the \u201cGFUP00##.DAT\u201d and \u201cXFUP00##.DAT\u201d varies depending on models.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          3. Click \u201cI Agree-Begin Download\u201d after you have read \u201cLicense Agreement\u201d to proceed to the download page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          4. Check if there is no file with the same name in a destination of the firmware to save. If there is a file with the same name, a browser can automatically change the name of the firmware and a camera cannot recognize the firmware correctly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          5. If you don\u2019t know the steps to save the firmware, refer to the steps below.

          6. Copy the downloaded file to the card.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          7. Take the card from the card reader slot after the copy is completed and put it to the camera.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            \uff1cIf the downloaded firmware is a compressed file (Zip file)\uff1e<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            1. Put the formatted memory card to a card reader slot of your PC.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            2. Download the firmware (compressed file) for the lens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            3. Decompress the firmware (zip format). The folder including the firmware is created.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            4. Open the generated folder and several firmwares will be deployed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            5. Copy all multiple firmwares to the memory card.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            6. Take the card from the card reader slot after the copy is completed and put it to the camera.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              5. Put the card with the firmware in the camera and update it.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

              If the firmware update fails, the camera cannot work well. Make sure to follow the two things below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
