Please read this update after refreshing this page.
- In case of Windows (Internet Explorer / FireFox / Google Chrome), hold down the “Control” key and “F5” key.
- In case of Mac (Safari / Google Chrome), hold down the “Command” key and “R” key.
- In case of Mac (FireFox), hold down the “Command”, “Shift” and “R” keys at same time.
The firmware upgrade is not required if its version is latest.
- Refer to “2) Firmware version checking procedure” in the “Detail of firmware update steps” below to check the firmware version.
Please use your camera and lens with the latest version of firmware.
- If you don’t use them with the latest version, you may not enjoy their full performance. Check the latest firmware version from the link below.
Detail of the firmware update
The firmware update Ver.1.06 from Ver.1.04/Ver.1.05 incorporates the following issues:
-
Display delay of the external monitor connected via SDI or HDMI is improved.
This improvement effects under either of the following setting conditions.
・PROJECT ➔ RESOLUTION ➔ 4K 4:3
・PROJECT ➔ MEDIA REC SETTING ➔ MEDIA REC SETTING ➔ ProResHQ, ProRes 422 or ProRes LT
・PROJECT ➔ F-Log2/HLG/RAW ➔ SDI/HDMI OUTPUT RAW SETTING ➔ OFF -
The firmware bugs causing the following issues are fixed.
(1) When switching between the “MULTI” and “TRACKING” settings in AF mode, ‘AREA’ mode may occasionally become active even though “MULTI” is selected.
(2) When opening the Playback screen without a storage media inserted and pressing certain buttons, an unintended screen may appear.
(3) When attaching a FUJINON Duvo series lens to the GFX ETERNA 55 and operating the expander while recording, the camera freezes.
(4) AF tracking does not work when the FOCUS LEVER SETTING is set to “PUSH TO UNLOCK”
(5) The CLIP does not play during playback.
(6) When applying the default LUT in F-Log2C settings, banding may occasionally occur under high-saturation lighting conditions.
Note: As part of the measures to address the above issue, the 3D-LUT, F-Log2C_to_WDR”, for the GFX ETERNA 55 available on the following website is also updated from Ver.1.00 to Ver.1.10.
(7) Other minor issues.
The firmware update Ver.1.04 from Ver.1.02/Ver.1.03 incorporates the following issues:

Display delay of the external monitor connected via SDI or HDMI is improved.
This improvement effects only when using one of the following formats: [4K 16:9], [4K 17:9], [FHD 16:9], or [FHD 17:9], and when [RECORDING FPS] is set to 25 or lower, and [IS SETTING] / [INTERFRAME NR] is set to [OFF].
Note:Display delay is improved by approximately 40ms reduction comparing to Ver.1.03 and earlier.

The following firmware bugs are fixed.
(1)The camera may freeze after the firmware update completes if the update is performed using only the rechargeable battery (NP-W235) for power supply.
Note1:Use an external power supply when updating the firmware this time, this improvement is effective after applying this firmware.
Note2:After updating to Ver.1.04, the firmware updates will automatically turn the camera power OFF.(2)The camera it may freeze at the sensor cleaning screen when turning on the camera under the following settings.
・A PL mount adapter is attached.
・An external monitor is connected via HDMI and the monitor’s power is turned off.
The firmware update Ver.1.02 from Ver.1.00/Ver.1.01 incorporates the following issues:

External recorder recording function to ATOMOS devices is newly added.
This new firmware enables the FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA 55 to make external RAW recording by 4:3 open gate, 4K, and up to 48fps.
Additionally, RAW output is newly available via SDI in addition to HDMI, enabling versatile use across various film production environments.
Please be sure to update your external recorder to the latest firmware before use. please see here. -
The display design of the menu screen is changed.
-
The brightness of the side monitor becomes darker than the previous condition if the [-5] is selected for the brightness of the [Side monitor] through the following operation.
[SET UP] ➔ [LCD SETTING] ➔ [LCD BRIGHTNESS]

Look & feel of the [TIME CODE] display shown on the [Side monitor] is improved.

Response times becomes shorter when operating the following settings.
Operation Settings:[FPS], [ISO], [SHUTTER], [ND], [WB], [PROJECT FPS], [RESOLUTION] and [IMAGE FORMAT]

The default (starting) value for [Clip No.] is changed from 0000 to 0001.

The default value for [SHARPNESS] is changed from 4 to 0.
Note:Be aware that you need to initialize the camera to make the above change take effect.

The following firmware bugs are fixed.
(1)The recording does not start while AF is locked with touch AF through the following operation flow.
[FOCUS] ➔ [TOUCH SCREEN MODE] ➔ [AF]
(2)Selecting [RESET ALL EXCEPT NETWORK SETTINGS] does not reset the [TIME CODE] through the following operation flow.
[TIME CODE] ➔ [COUNT UP SETTING] ➔ [FREE RUN]
(3)The aperture value cannot be changed when selecting [IRIS] in the [RECORDING] menu under the following setting conditions.
・Use GF lenses with an aperture ring other than the GF32-90mm T3.5 PZ OIS WR.
・Set the aperture ring position to C.
・Select [T NUMBER] of the [IRIS DISP] in the [RECORDING] menu.
(4)The [CUSTOM ASPECT] is not displayed at the correct aspect ratio.
(5)Synchronization failure of the [TIME CODE]
(6) The side monitor display occasionally remains in REC mode even after stopping REC.
(7) The outside side monitor turns off occasionally when starting and stopping REC repeatedly.
(8) The outside indicator lamp remains lit or remains off occasionally when starting and stopping REC repeatedly.
(9) The default setting for the mount adapter should be [OFF], but it is set to [Lens 1].
(10) Loading more than 13 LUT files may cause unstable operation.
(11)Other minor bugs.
Firmware Update Steps
- Check the firmware version.
- Prepare a formatted memory card.
- Download the firmware and copy it to the card.
- Put the memory card with the firmware in the camera and update it.
Precaution
If firmware updating fails, the camera may no longer operate correctly in some cases. Carefully read the notes provided here*Always use the fully-charged battery when updating the firmware as a basic manner. Never turn the camera off or attempt to use any of the camera controls while the firmware is being overwritten.
- You can update the firmware from old version directly to the latest one.
- Firmware updating requires approximately 10 minutes.(maximum)
- Once the firmware has been updated, some data of the previous version cannot be restored.

FIRMWARE is the upgraded version of software that FUJIFILM Corporation. (“FUJI”) already distributed to you included with FUJI’s product(s) (“ORIGINAL FIRMWARE”). All copyrights and other proprietary rights to FIRMWARE are retained by FUJI, and nothing contained herein shall be construed, expressly or implicitly, as transferring or granting to you any right, license, or title unless otherwise explicitly granted under this Agreement.
Article 2. NO Warranty
FUJI EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY WARRANTY FOR SOFTWARE. SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT OF COPYRIGHT, PATENT, TRADE SECRET, OR ANY OTHER PROPRIETARY RIGHTS OF ANY THIRD PARTY. Article 3. Restrictions
You shall not, or shall not have any third party, reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble FIRMWARE.
Caution
*Make sure there isn’t any file with the same name in the destination of the firmware to save. If there is a file with the same name, the browser may automatically alter the name of the firmware like the name and (1). A camera will not recognize the firmware correctly with an altered name like that.
