ConnectNo Borders, Only Threads
“No Borders, Only Threads” is a photography series by YOLANDA x ALEX exploring cultural identity, heritage, and belonging through personal narrative and global experience. Blending traditional costume and modern fashion, diverse models, and historical photographic techniques, the project reflects a vision of borderless humanity. As a Chinese Canadian–German patchwork family in Munich, the artists navigate multiple heritages while raising third-culture children whose identities cross continents. Their experiences mirror those of millions who live between cultures, challenging rigid notions of homogeny. Through portraiture that honors tradition and transformation, the series examines what it means to belong everywhere and nowhere all at once.
