(USA)Kristopher Taveras is a Dominican-American director, producer, and community builder based in Los Angeles, CA. Through his company Krispy Productions, he creates narrative and music-driven films, and he also founded KREATE, an immersive event series that turns venues into spaces for honest conversations around art, identity, and mental health. His work centers on underrepresented voices dealing with real-life pressure, whether on screen or in a room full of people. “Eccentric” is his most personal film yet, transforming his own lowest moments into a claustrophobic portrait of invisible illness.
ConnectEccentric
Eccentric is a short film set over the course of one night in a cramped NYC apartment. Donato, 26, becomes fixated on killing a fly he believes is trapped in his room. As his frustration builds, he constructs a makeshift tower of furniture to reach it—until everything collapses beneath him. In the silence that follows, we realize the fly was never real, but a symptom of untreated schizophrenia. Through tight framing, textured lighting, and detailed sound design, the film transforms a single room into a claustrophobic portrait of an invisible illness slowly crushing a person from within.
