Hsu Hao-Han
(Taiwan)Hsu Hao-Han (b. 1998) is a Taiwanese architectural photographer. He completed his BA in Photography at Nottingham Trent University (UK). After returning to Taiwan, guided by his vision: “Letting architecture speak for itself”, he founded HsuHaoHan Photography in 2024, a studio specializing in architecture and interior photography. Concurrently, He focuses on exploring how the interplay between “photographic representation” and “perception of reality” reveals the symbiotic relationship between architecture and society. This exploration aims to inspire people to reflect on their own connection to surrounding buildings. His photographs, guided by this philosophy, have generated resonance and recognition in competitions and exhibitions.
ConnectUrban Additions
‘Dinglou jiagai’ (rooftop additions) is an ongoing phenomenon reflecting the interaction between residents and architecture. In early Taiwan, responding to housing needs, structures sprouted in regulatory cracks, climbing upwards clinging to necessity. While this wild, untamed growth has left rough layers on the urban skyline, it also tenderly shelters those in need. Over time, rooftop additions evolved diverse functions yet accumulated complex risks. Today, this dialogue is far from over. This project explores these structures, reflecting on the right to housing and habitability within this unique urban paradox.
