Antonio Faccilongo\u00a0is an Italian documentary photographer and filmmaker,\u00a0photography professor\u00a0at\u00a0Rome University of Fine Arts and is\u00a0represented by\u00a0Getty Reportage.<\/p>\n

After graduating in communication sciences, and then obtaining a master in photojournalism,\u00a0he focused his attention on\u00a0Asia\u00a0and the\u00a0Middle East, principally in Israel and Palestine, covering social, political and cultural issues.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Documenting the aftermath of\u00a0Palestinian-Israeli\u00a0conflict in West Bank and Gaza Strip, he sought to unveil and highlight the humanitarian issues hidden within one of the world\u2019s most reported conflicts, because too often it is shown only as a place of war and conflict.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His long-term projects about women and their families in Palestine\u00a0have received several awards and grants including\u00a0World Press Photo story of the year,\u00a01st prize\u00a0in long-term projects category at\u00a0World Press Photo,\u00a0FotoEvidence Book Award with World Press Photo,\u00a0Getty editorial grant\u00a0and 1st prize World Understanding Award at\u00a0POYi Pictures of the year International. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Other awards and honors have included being recognized by\u00a0PhMuseum,\u00a0Gomma Grant,\u00a0LuganoPhotoDays,\u00a0Umbria World Fest,\u00a0Kuala Lumpur Photo Awards,\u00a0PDN Photo Annual Awards,\u00a0Feature Shoot\u00a0and was finalist at\u00a0Visa D’or\u00a0and\u00a0Lucas Dolega\u00a0and shortlisted 2 times at\u00a0Alexia Foundation.<\/p>\n

Furthermore his long-term projects have been exhibited internationally at numerous shows and festivals including\u00a02 times at\u00a0World Press Photo Festival,\u00a0Les Rencontres d\u2019Arles,\u00a0Zoom Festival,\u00a0Festival della fotografia etica,\u00a0Exposure Photography Festival,\u00a0Buenos Aires Biennial,\u00a0screened at\u00a0Visa pour l’image Perpignan\u00a0and was included on global campaign\u00a0#WomenMatter\u00a0against the violence toward women made by Dysturb.<\/p>\n

His work and assignments have been published in some of the most prominent\u00a0international publications\u00a0including National Geographic, Time, Stern, Der Spiegel, Le Monde, Geo, The Guardian, 6Mois, Paris Match, Focus, Sette, L’Espresso, Internazionale and many others.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

My relationship with photography began with medium format analog cameras when I was a child. So the square format, but also the dials and the rangefinder, have always been part of my creative process. In 2012 when I discovered that Fujifilm had launched a mirrorless camera on the market with the characteristics of my old analogue cameras, but with all the advantages of digital, I immediately fell in love with it. The X-Pro1 was the first in a long line of compact, lightweight, high-performance lens cameras that I used for my projects over the next 10 years. In particular, my work Habibi, which has received numerous awards and was the story of the year for World Press Photo 2021 and first prize in the category of long-term projects, was made entirely with Fujifilm cameras and lenses. This equipment contributed greatly to giving me the expressive freedom I needed.
