Magnum exhibition “A World in Color“
In 2025, Magnum Photos began digitizing more than 650,000 color slides from its archives using FUJIFILM’s GFX 100 II medium-format technology. «A World in Color», both a heritage and exploratory initiative, marks a new milestone in the longstanding collaboration between Magnum and Fujifilm. Across Europe, each FUJIKINA will unveil a chapter of the project tailored to its host country, built around a dialogue between unseen images and a new series produced in resonance with GFX technology. In Arles, the A World in Color exhibition, combining previously unseen archives and GFX work by Grégory Halpern, celebrates Fujifilm’s commitment to the history and future of photography.
The exhibition will be on show all summer at the Galerie Arena ( from 8th to 31 august 2025), as well as conferences and meetings throughout the week.
Fujifilm is delighted to be joined by Raymond Depardon et Gregory Halpern.

Post-Documentary Photography and the Aesthetics of the Unreal
This talk explores the evolution of documentary photography through a post-documentary lens—where speculation, fiction, and ambiguity play a central role. Drawing on ideas from my ongoing project The Forgotten Archive of the Future, I’ll reflect on how images can function as speculative documents, treating the present as a relic of imagined or abandoned futures. Moving away from photography as evidence, this approach embraces dystopian aesthetics, temporal dislocation, and narrative complexity to challenge our understanding of truth, memory, and visual storytelling.

Confronting Urgent Social Issues: Documentary Meets Art Photography
Discover how to combine documentary and artistic photography in your practice to engage with pressing social and cultural issues such as memory, community, and environmental degradation. For over a decade, Musuk Nolte has navigated image production, presentation, and circulation, successfully integrating himself into the realms of photojournalism, book publishing, and artistic photography. In this hands-on workshop, Musuk will share his advice on how to collaborate meaningfully with communities and explore image-making in more conceptual and imaginative ways, how to create work infused with dreamlike elements but rooted in reality, where documentary meets the poetic, and the real merges with the imagined.
Biography
Musuk Nolte (b.1988) is a photographer and editor born in Mexico City, Mexico.
His work combines documentary and artistic photography to explore social issues, including memory and environmental degradation. He frequently collaborates with communities and cultures from the Andean and Amazonian regions.

Editing for Visual Narratives: Constructing Meaning and Position
This workshop offers a space for reflection and dialogue on the process of editing photographs to create compelling visual narratives.
Transforming a group of images into a cohesive photo essay that communicates both content and intent is a major challenge. Editing involves more than choosing strong photos—it’s about sequencing, rhythm, coherence, atmosphere, and crafting a visual language that speaks beyond aesthetics. Narratives in photography don’t need to be linear. What matters is creating connections—through themes, tensions, contrasts, or moods—that resonate emotionally and critically. Editing is also a way of thinking and positioning oneself. It’s about choosing what to show, in what order, and what to emphasize or leave out. This workshop encourages a critical, authorial approach to these decisions.
Biography
Maíra C. Gamarra is is a Brazilian-Bolivian curator, editor, educator and researcher. She works in the management of artistic and cultural projects as well as institutions, curating exhibitions, festivals and events across Latin America. She is actively involved in various initiatives across visual arts, documentary, and artistic photography, contributing as a guest lecturer, instructor, mentor, portfolio reviewer, and juror for grants and competitions. Her work emphasizes the intersection of education, research, and curatorial practice.
She is the Founder and Director of Mira Latina, an organization dedicated to Latin American photography and art through a critical and anti-colonial lens. Mira Latina explores contemporary forms of representation and visuality, fostering critical reflection on artistic and documentary practices. It proposes experiences that encourage research into cultural and political dynamics, the power dynamics embedded in imagery, and the role of image creators.
Maíra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication and a Master’s in Latin American Studies. She is a member of the POY Latam Advisory Board and the Network of Cultural Producers of Photography in Brazil.

Expanding Visual Narratives
In this workshop, visual artist Randa Mirza will guide participants through her artistic process and discuss the potential role of mixed media in expanding visual narratives. Documentary photography often embraces unconventional media in order to enable its creators to express complexities that exist beyond the borders of the photographic frame, but how and where should photographers begin to explore its potential, and what considerations should they be mindful of? Using examples from her own rich artistic practice, Randa will provide practical advice on how an expanded documentary storytelling practice can embrace video, sound, performance, installation, or poetry. Participants will be invited to reflect about the possible place of multimedia in their own practice.
Randa Mirza is a visual artist who works with photography, video, installation, and performance. Rooted in a feminist and decolonial discourse, her artistic practice questions hegemonic systems of thought and standardised representations. By making current symbolic, social, and political constructions visible, her work questions the point of view of the gaze, and the contexts in which images are produced and received, bringing to light what is forgotten or intentionally hidden. As a space for reflection, reparation, and resistance in the face of violence, her work falls somewhere between documentary, personal expression, and artistic writing. she lives and works between Marseille, France and Beirut, Lebanon.
