The word ‘film’ commonly refers to movies and implies the close connection between film and motion pictures. In the past, stills photography and moviemaking were distinct and specialized worlds, but these days it is not unusual for a single camera to be used for both. The need for interoperability is becoming more important. That is why ETERNA, a film for movies, has been added to the Film Simulation lineup.
If you use ETERNA for a still photograph, you may feel that the relatively flat tonal gradation and muted colors render a weak look. Even in a movie, if you view a specific scene out of context, you may feel the same way. But if you isolate one instrument from an orchestra and try to make it represent the orchestra, the music won’t resonate properly. Post-production plays a large role in movies, and this Film Simulation opens the door to that process.
For those with an understanding of motion pictures, ETERNA is effective when used with dramatic, staged portraits or architectural photography.
