CLASSIC CHROME differed from previous Film Simulations in that it did not use a specific analog film as a model. Instead, you could say it is an imaginary film created to replicate the look of photographs from the classic photojournalism magazines of the 20th century.
It is great for regular use because of its versatility in working with any subject and any light source. While PROVIA and PRO Neg. are characterized by bright, transparent, and clean looks, CLASSIC CHROME is more subdued with suppressed magenta and cool shadows.
The 20th century’s photojournalism magazines led the golden age of documentary and print media, as well as having a close affinity with street photography. CLASSIC CHROME has an assured, composed look and works well with fashion, interior, and product photography. It’s the first look to try when you think, ‘I want to make a cool photo today!’
