Reala Āta is a FS RECIPE built around softness, balance, and calm light. The name comes from the Māori word “āta,” meaning gentle & slowly. That meaning fits this FS RECIPE perfectly. It was designed for quiet moments, early starts, and fading light at the end of the day.

The base Film Simulation is REALA ACE, which I find ideal for landscapes and everyday scenes. It offers rich, filmic tones without feeling heavy or oversaturated. Greens stay natural, shadows lean slightly cool, and highlights roll off smoothly, even in difficult light. This makes it a strong all-around choice for travel and landscape photography.

To keep this FS RECIPE flexible, I relied on the FUJIFILM X-E5’s AUTO WHITE BALANCE. This helps maintain consistent colour and contrast across changing conditions. Lowering HIGHLIGHTS and adding a touch of SHADOW creates images that feel both subtle and punchy. An optional mist filter adds a soft, cinematic mood, especially during golden hour.

I tested “Reala Āta” across Arthur’s Pass, Castle Hill at sunset, and the beaches of Christchurch. It handled open plains, textured rock, and coastal light with ease.
