THE GOOD LIFE IN CLASSIC CHROME

I’ve been working in photography since 1978, professionally since 1981, so I’ve had many opportunities to use film, and still do so today with large-format cameras. Since 2001, my subjects have been more often photographed digitally, but the big shift came in 2011 with the first FUJIFILM X100, and in 2012 with FUJIFILM X-Pro 1.

Regarding Film Simulation, Fujifilm offers us a multitude of possibilities, usable directly in our cameras, and this is something that suits me perfectly because I work in JPG, and I can say that they are the best on the market!

Of course, with common sense and respect for the lighting, which is the essence of photography.
RAW files are of course there to reassure you, but if you’re attentive and have a keen eye, you’ll spend less time on the computer!

For this exercise, I spent some time around Lake Annecy, enjoying the early morning in this very gentle atmosphere. The calm and serenity of these moments were well captured with the CLASSIC CHROME Film Simulation, thanks to the FUJIFILM X-T50 camera and its dedicated Film Simulation dial. Not too much gimmickry, just a fairly gentle rendering. So, with the CLASSIC CHROME in JPG format, I find myself with that 70’s atmosphere that is so dear to me. I also admit to liking the NOSTALGIC Neg. and ETERNA Film Simulations.

Furthermore, there are several menu options to adjust your images to your liking.
For example, COLOR CHROME FX BLUE. This offers more prominent blue areas; generally, a slightly milky sky will become more of a “blue sky.” You could almost say it’s using a polarizing filter.
There’s also the COLOR CHROME EFFECT, which manages colors, slightly distorting them, for a very pleasing result.
And finally, the GRAIN EFFECT with three modes: off, weak, and strong—what more could you ask for!

Is photography for fun becoming almost easy? It’s up to everyone to play with these settings to obtain images that reflect their own sensitivity.
