When I photograph, my attention often turns to the atmosphere that surrounds fleeting moments of everyday life—the impressions shaped by light, and the quiet temperature of the spaces themselves. The subtle resonance that can be felt without explanation is, perhaps, the very reason I continue to make photographs.
People sometimes say that my photographs resemble me. In a way, that phrase has come to feel like the most accurate way to describe my work. To me, photography is ultimately a mirror that reflects the inner world of the person behind the camera. A photograph carries not only the scene itself, but also the photographer’s way of seeing—their attitude and sensibility—quietly embedded within the frame. Rather than adding more, I have gradually come to search for a sense of simplicity. Through that process, my photographs have naturally found their own inner direction. Perhaps each image quietly reflects my gaze, deepening little by little over time.
In that sense, PRO Neg. Std felt closely aligned with the intention behind this work. With this FS RECIPE, I wanted to express the atmosphere of subjects, landscapes, and spaces in a quieter, more contemplative way. Instead of pushing saturation or creating dramatic contrast, I was drawn to the way it gently softens color and balances the tones with restraint.
Even under strong light, its soft density prevents the image from becoming harsh. This allowed me to render the natural texture of the subject without exaggeration, while preserving the quiet, mist-like stillness that flows through the entire scene. The process of discovering a resonance between my own way of seeing and the character of this FS RECIPE ultimately became the most meaningful part of this work.
