Weaving Stars and Palm Leaves
For generations, Amazigh women from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco have woven together personal narratives and collective histories into traditional rugs. Like a coded feminine language the art form is transferred from mother to daughter in the secrecy of the mountains. Deeply rooted in spiritual and ancestral connections to the land, weaving becomes a thread between humans and nature. In the face of climate change, the continuation of these traditions becomes even more crucial. The weavers’ understanding of the land, and their connection to the rhythms of nature provide valuable insights into sustainable living protecting cultural heritage and promoting environmental stewardship.
