This FS RECIPE came together while shooting in two places I know well, built on ASTIA for its soft, balanced tone. Wellington’s coast was the first test, with bright skies, wind, and lots of contrast. Then I took it to Mt.Taranaki, using its clean shape and changing light to build a set that stays connected from frame to frame.
The name is the goal in two parts: Mānuka and Hush.
Mānuka is the resiliency side of the FS RECIPE. In New Zealand, it’s common to have a bright sky and deep shadow in the same frame, and it’s easy to lose either the sky or the foreground. This look is built to keep the scene feeling complete, holding detail across the frame so it still matches what it felt like to stand there.
Hush is the mood. ASTIA helps keep the colour calm and controlled, even when the scene is dramatic. WHITE BALANCE stays on AUTO with a gentle shift, so the look stays consistent while the light changes. Greens stay natural, warm light stays warm, and skies keep their softer tones without turning harsh. From strong daylight through to golden hour, the look stays balanced and consistent across a full set.
Grain is another highlight of this FS RECIPE. It adds texture and mood, and it helps the images carry the memory of the walk.
